Key Responsibilities:
This position is part of the World Vision South Africa Youth-Hub Project in Ga-Sekororo, Limpopo. Its purpose is to promote computer literacy amongst the youth around Maruleng to ensure youth development. The candidate must make a concerted effort to acclimatize youth with no prior exposure to computers.

This position will also ensure that youth are able to apply for their academic and job applications. The Youth Development Officer – Computer Training will work closely with Career Guidance Officer in response to the Donor project outcome to assist youth to compile CV, job and academic application and interview preparations to youth around Maruleng. This role will develop teaching material and present lessons, as well as attending youth network meetings. It will also ensure that computer equipment remains in excellent working condition.
Youth-Hub Computer Center Coordination and Training:
  • Instructing in a manner that develops learners' confidence in their abilities.
  • Observing and managing youth-hub lab dynamics.
  • Invigilating and grading assignments, quizzes, and examinations.
  • Tracking and communicating learners' advancement throughout the training.
  • Ensuring that the computer laboratory remains free from food and drink at all times.
  • Issuing important computer manuals and completion certificates to learners
  • Creating database for the incoming computer registry/enrolling learners.

Youth-Hub project implementation:
  • Working close with Career Guidance Officer in responding to the Donor project outcome in assisting youth to compile CV, job and academic application and interview preparations to youth around Maruleng.
  • Assist in the establishment and maintenance of Youth Network within Maruleng;
  • Assist the project team in monitoring the effective utilization of the Youth Hub facilities;
  • Ensure that learning outcomes of trainings are internalised and utilised by the youth to access job market;
  • Visit local schools and existing youth groups to introduce the project and identify youth that require computer training and CV writing;
  • Co-Facilitate youth group sessions, develop and maintain relationships with youth people while strengthening their resilience.

Stakeholder Engagement
  • Position Wold Vision and the Youth-Hub with local stakeholders and businesses to assist youth to access job market.
  • Ensure fresh content of job advertisements on all relevant digital media and monitor/track success of youth on the data base, by monitoring of traffic on the site/pages
  • Ensure all relevant partners and donors are tagged as and when content related to their funding is posted. These may include donors (sponsors, multilateral & bilateral), private sector, CSO, etc.
  • Assist in maintaining the Youth-Hub Centre.

Emergency Communications:
  • Consistently provide regular updates to the World Vision South Africa Management on the Youth-Hub Computer training progress.
  • Efficiently and effectively manage Youth intake on the computer training.

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATION FOR THE RIOLE
Required Professional Experience
  • Prior experience as a computer teacher/mentor.
  • Excellent presentation or training abilities.
  • Strong written and administrative skills.
  • Nurturing, adaptable approach to instructing.
  • Passionate about fostering computer literacy and academic excellence. Understanding of corporate social media management
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet and World Vision International databases

Other Competencies/Attributes
  • First aid training is advantageous.
  • Possess excellent necessary studio skills in dealing with the media, donors, and other stakeholders
  • Must be a team player
  • May be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
  • Attend and lead in devotions and attend Chapel
  • Perform other reasonable duties as required.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
  • 2 years of experience in Computer Training and Youth Development
  • National Diploma (minimal), Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related discipline.
Language Requirements
Effective in written and verbal communication - English.
