- Patient Care Coordinators guide patients through the clinic, check them in and out, schedule eye exams, manage the office’s phones and correspondence, verify vision insurance, take payments, and other administrative tasks.
- Optometric Technicians gather patient medical history, pre-screen patients before they see the optometrist, assist the doctor in notating patient exams with correct diagnosis codes, and educate patients on eyewear products, follow-up treatments, and eyecare.
- Opticians assist patients with selecting eyewear that suits their lifestyle while also taking into consideration their prescription and eye health needs. Opticians place glasses and contact lens orders, bill insurance, manage inventory, educate patients in contact lens use, and provide honest and compassionate feedback on frame styles.
- Practice Managers ensure the best overall patient experience by guiding staff through training and consistent coaching, facilitating communication between the optometrist, staff, and patients, and by resolving customer service issues efficiently. Managers also review financial/sales data, inventory data, staff schedules, HIPPA compliance, recruit and interview staff, and conduct employee evaluations.
